What Is an Online To-Do List?

An online To-Do List is a simple digital checklist where you write down the things you need to get done and mark them off as you finish them. Instead of keeping tasks in your head or on scraps of paper, a To-Do List gives you one clear place to see what is waiting, what is done and what deserves attention next.

This To-Do List lets you add tasks with a single line of text, tick them off with a checkbox, edit the wording later and delete tasks you no longer need. Filters switch between all tasks, active tasks and completed tasks, and a counter shows how many items are left. A second tab holds a basic notes pad for longer text such as meeting notes, shopping lists, drafts or ideas, with search and a download option.

Your tasks and notes are saved in your browser's local storage. That means they are still there when you come back on the same device and browser, and they are never sent to a server or shared with anyone.

How to Use the To-Do List

    1. Type a task into the box on the To-Do tab and press Enter or click Add. New tasks appear at the top of the list.
    2. Tick the checkbox beside a task when it is finished. Completed tasks are crossed out and counted separately.
    3. To change the wording, click Edit or double-click the task text, type the new text and press Enter. Press Escape to cancel.
    4. Use the All, Active and Completed filters to focus on what matters right now.
    5. Click Clear completed to remove all finished tasks at once and keep the list tidy.
    6. Open the Notes tab to write a title and text, then click Save note. Use the search box to find old notes and click Open to edit one.
    7. Press Download all as .txt if you want a backup copy of your notes on your device.

Benefits of Using an Online To-Do List

Writing tasks down frees your mind from remembering them and makes it easier to prioritize. Seeing a list shrink as you check items off also gives a small but real sense of progress that helps you keep going.

A lightweight To-Do List with built-in notes is also faster than heavier project management software. There is nothing to configure, no login and no syncing delay, which makes it ideal for daily planning, quick lists and ideas you want to capture before they disappear.

Keeping the data on your own device protects your privacy. Your personal tasks and notes do not pass through any server.

Your privacy comes first. The To-Do List runs entirely in your web browser. Nothing you enter is sent to our servers, which keeps your data private and makes results appear instantly. See our Privacy Policy for details.

Common Use Cases for the To-Do List

    • Planning your day or week with a short list of priorities
    • Tracking homework, assignments and exam revision
    • Creating shopping lists and packing lists
    • Keeping a running list of work tasks and follow-ups
    • Capturing meeting notes, ideas and quick drafts
    • Organizing household chores and family errands
    • Planning events, trips and small projects step by step
    • Pairing with a Pomodoro Timer to work through tasks in focused sprints

Tips for Getting the Best Results

    • Write tasks as clear actions, such as Email the invoice, rather than vague topics like Invoice.
    • Limit your daily list to the three to five things that really matter, then add extras if time allows.
    • Break big tasks into smaller steps that you can finish in one sitting.
    • Review and clear completed tasks at the end of each day so tomorrow starts fresh.
    • Download your notes now and then as a backup, because browser storage can be cleared.
    • Use the same browser and device to see your saved data, as it is not synced between devices.

    To-Do List FAQ

Where are my tasks and notes stored?

They are stored in your browser's local storage on your own device. Nothing is sent to MamaTool or any other server, so only someone with access to your browser profile can see them.

Will my data disappear if I close the page?

No. Your tasks and notes stay saved and reload the next time you open the page in the same browser. They can be lost if you clear your browsing data or use a private window, so download important notes as a backup.

Can I use the To-Do List on my phone and computer?

Yes, the page works on any modern device. However, data is stored separately in each browser, so tasks added on your phone will not automatically appear on your computer.

How do I edit a task?

Click the Edit button beside the task, or double-click the task text. Type your change and press Enter to save it, or press Escape to cancel.

Is there a limit to how many tasks or notes I can add?

There is no fixed limit, but browsers allow only a few megabytes of local storage per site. That is enough for thousands of tasks and many long notes in normal use.

Can I recover a deleted task or note?

No. Deleting is permanent because the data lives only on your device. Notes ask for confirmation before they are removed, and you can download a text backup at any time.
